Town of Namakagon

Lake Namakagon, within the Town of Namakagon is the most common location for area resorts, restaurants and taverns. The lake has the distinction of being one of only three lakes with the State of Wisconsin to be managed as a trophy muskie lake and it is renowned as an incredible fishery. Lake Namakagon also serves as the headwaters of the Namekagon River which has been named a National Wild and Scenic River. The residents of Namakagon live here for the same reasons many tourists visit; love of nature, outdoor activities, abundant wildlife and a close-knit community.

The Town of Namakagon is the epicenter of tourism in Southern Bayfield County. Famous for its Worlds Longest Weenie Roast Weekend in March, the MS Golf fundraiser and the Marine ‘Toys for Tot’ ATV fundraiser this town is filled with residents of excellent character. A large portion of the town of Namakagon is located within the Chequamegon National Forest offering visitors ample opportunity to explore unspoiled natural wonder. Many snowmobile, ATV, cross country and mountain bike trails interweave their way through the Namakagon area. The Rock Lake National Recreational Trail runs entirely in Namakagon. This extremely popular trail system recently received an ‘Epic Ride’ designation from the International Mountain Bike Association, its highest trail designation.
