Hunting

Located in the heart of the Chequamegon National Forest in Northern Wisconsin, the Cable Area offers large areas of public hunting land abundant with wildlife. Whitetail deer, black bear, ruffed grouse and waterfowl are the most commonly hunted species, but don’t forget the woodcock, gray squirrel, snowshoe hare, coyote and fox. In recent years an explosion of wild turkeys has made the Cable Area a great destination to bag your bird. For the hunter who prefers to walk, many miles of trails have been developed, and there are over 11,000 acres of non-motorized designated wilderness area.
