Update as of April 24, 2024
It’s the time of year that CAMBA TRAILS will start to open.
There will be continuous updates.
Many trails remain very wet and vulnerable right now. However, we are monitoring conditions closely and will open trails as soon as we can.
Hospital trails in Hayward are now open!
Partial Opening Mt. Ashwabay
Most of the trails at Mt. Ashwabay are officially open. There are two significant exceptions that will remain closed: Dirt Lip and Serpent (this is the name of the new trail across from the Ski Hill Rd. trailhead). Please do not ride these closed trails.
All other CAMBA trails in southern Bayfield and northern Sawyer Counties remain closed. Thanks for respecting the trails.
Users are encouraged to look for good gravel routes. CAMBA Gravel Routes can be found at https://cambatrails.org/gravel-route-info/. Maps are available for download, and paper versions can be purchased at local bike shops. Note that many gravel roads may still be wet and sloppy also
- ATV/UTV Trail Conditions
-
Bayfield County ATV/UTV trails are officially open as of Wednesday, May 1, 2024. The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest trails will also open on that date, rescinding the closure order from earlier this year.
Trails are in spring condition and maintenance crews are actively working on the trails. Please be aware of your surroundings, ride with caution, and report any downed/hazardous trees or other trail issues as soon as possible to the Bayfield County Forestry & Parks Department at 715-373-6114 or email the Forestry & Parks Department.
In addition to using caution, please stay on the designated trails and routes and follow the trail signs.
New trail maps are available and can be found at area businesses and local Chambers of Commerce. You can also order one from the Bayfield County Tourism office at 715-373-6125 or at travelbayfieldcounty.com/atvtrails.
You can also access the Bayfield County ATV/UTV trail map on the Avenza app – download the map while you have an internet connection before you head out and you can locate yourself while you’re out on the trails.
