Chequamegon 40

On Saturday Sept. 19, this 40 mile, mass start, point-to-point off-road bicycle event travels from downtown Hayward, WI, over the famed American Birkebeiner Ski Trail, forest roads, snowmobile trails and other wooded lanes to the finish line at Telemark Resort in Cable, WI. 1,700 participants will take part in this challenging fat tire marathon. 1998 Registration is filled.

Short & Fat

This 16 mile mass start race/tour is the perfect introductory event for those new to off-road cycling, younger riders or for those not ready to tackle the rigors of the marathon Chequamegon 40. Starting in Cable, WI on Saturday Sept. 19, it utilizes forest roads, the Birke Ski Trail and other back wood's paths on the way to the Telemark Resort finish line. 800 will participate. 1998 Registration is filled.

Rough Stuff Redezvous

On Sunday, Sept. 20, a bicycle orienteering treasure hunt, the Rough Stuff Rendezvous pits brain versus brawn in a map and compass challenge. Riders must locate seven well marked checkpoints indicated on their orienteering maps and hung in the woods. Find all the checkpoints, punch your control card and return to the finish. 1998 Registration is still open -- e-mail your name and address to us for entry information.


Cable Criterium

The grueling one-half mile lap set on the Telemark Resort ski slope is the site of the final event of the weekend, the Cable Criterium on Sunday Sept. 20. Multi-lap finals are held for Age Class Championships which will determine qualifiers for the Overall Criterium Championship. 1998 Registration is still open -- e-mail your name and address to us for entry information.

Sunday Funday

The Chequamegon's blend of fat tire fun on Sunday Sept. 20 at Telemark Resort helps round out the weekend activities. Participants enjoy the Klunker Bike Toss, Lumber Jack & Jill Log Pull, Hammer Slammer Hill Climb and a Children's Bicycle Rodeo. Complimentary events, no registration necessary.

Fat Tires Friends and Fun Throughout the Weekend

Friday warm-up event, Pasta Feast, product displays, awards presentations, hundreds of miles of bike trails, fresh air, clean cold water and countless stars.
