CAMBA is excited to partner with the Mt. Borah Epic, a new 30-mile point to point race on the CAMBA singletrack trails. Starting at Telemark Resort and finishing at Hatchery Creek Park in Hayward, the course will utilize most of the CAMBA singletrack trails between Cable and Hayward. The event is produced by the Mt. Borah Foundation and all profits from the event will be donated to support CAMBA's singletrack trail development initiatives. The Mt. Borah Epic is a separate event with its own entry fee, run in conjunction with the Festival of the Trails. There is a Combo rate for those who want to participate in both events. Students entering grades 6-12 can join the Cable Natural History Museum Naturalist for fun, fishing, and river ecology on this overnight canoe trip on the Namekagon River! All paddling, camping, and fishing gear is provided by the National Park Service, and a NPS Ranger will give an evening campfire program! Meet at the Cable Wayside Landing at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Return by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cost is $10 per student to cover the cost of food. Space is limited. Register by June 6, by calling the Museum at 715-798-3890. Currently, artists with disabilities are busy painting and decorating various types of doors—from full-size entry doors, to cabinet doors, shutters, and even book covers. On Thursday, June 13, artists of all skill levels are invited to create their own “door art” to contribute to the project. From 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Sara and other members of the SMART team will be at the Cable Recreation Park to help community members paint doors. Community members may bring their own doors and painting materials and create a piece of artwork. Some materials will be available for community use as well. Bring a lunch and join in the fun! On Saturday June 29, SMART is hosting a celebration and fundraising gathering at The Rivers Eatery from 3:00 - 5:00p.m. to showcase the art created through the support of SMART. Most of the art will be featured in a silent auction, with the funds going toward a variety of educational and transitional programs for people with disabilities. Many who have seen Howard and Blue Max have become fans of Howard’s talented slide guitar playing and the band’s rockin’ electric blues sound. ... Howard Luedtke has been playing guitar since the arrival of the Beatles in 1964. After playing with several rock, country and blues bands, Howard formed the Blue Max band in 1982. Joining Howard since 1987 is his wife, Deb Klossner originally from New Ulm, Minnesota on bass, and several talented drummers from all over the region.
